What is the difference between wire EDM and die-sinking EDM?

Both processes are forms of electrical discharge machining (EDM) and enable high-precision machining of electrically conductive materials. In wire EDM, the material is cut with a thin wire, while in die-sinking EDM, a custom-made electrode is used to create complex contours, cavities, or shapes in the workpiece.

In short: Wire EDM is suitable for precise cuts and contours, while die-sinking EDM is suitable for complex geometries and mold inserts.

For which components are sink and wire EDM suitable?

These processes are primarily used for high-precision components in toolmaking, mold making, and mechanical engineering. Typical applications include:
